Postpartum Bleeding Risks: Understanding Your History & Future Pregnancies
QuestionI had my daughter nearly 8 yrs ago and suffer severe bleeding after and emergency c-section and ended up in HDU the bleeding continued for approx 2 and half months after, I then had a twin pregnancy, identical boys born 22 months after my daughter again by c-section the bleeding was not as bad but still severe and again continued for approx 2 months this time losing large clots as well. My new partner and i are now considering having a baby and i want to know the risk of the bleeding happening again and whether after 2 c-section i can have a natural birth?
I thank you for your time.
AnswerGiven your previous history of blood clots and irregular bleeding, it may be possible that you will have a problem with this again. I recommend talking to your doctor now and having him or her run diagnostic tests to see if there is any sort of underlying problem that has caused your bleeding. In addition, your doctor can explain options and risks based on your unique medical history. Without knowing much about your previous pregnancies or the causes for your hemorrhaging, it's difficult for me to say what your options are at this point.
Please let me know if I can help you further or with anything else.
Best wishes,
Helen =)
