Post-Abortion Bleeding: What to Expect After a D&E

Hi,

I had a D&E abortion at 7weeks 2 days gestation on the 6th of Feb.  The clinic post care instruction read that bleeding after the procedure can be a range fom  none to heavy.  I had very light bleeding that stopped after about 24 hours.  I know the instructions said that this was normal, but I really was expecting more.  Is it possible that I will start bleeding more in a couple of days?

Dear Kellie,
It is completely normal to only have one day of light bleeding after an early abortion.  It may have stopped, and my not come back. However, it would also be normal if you started to bleed again.   Irregular bleeding and spotting is common and normal for weeks to even months after an abortion.
