Postpartum Diarrhea After C-Section: Causes & Relief

Question
Hello Kristen,

I am the mother to three children--ages 3, 2, and 9 weeks.  My baby was born on Sept. 12th, and I had her via a scheduled c-section (I had sections will all my babies).  Ever since my section I've had chronic diarrhea.  I get these intense stomach aches before hand and then awful diarrhea.  The funny thing is, that when I wake up to feed my baby in the middle of the night, I'll often wake up with a stomach ache--not always, but maybe 50% of the time.  If I wake up with her and I have a stomach ache, I will always have pain in the morning after I eat breakfast.  If I don't have a stomach ache in the middle of the night, I won't have one in the morning.  It's the strangest thing!  For the past 2 weeks, I've had other bizzare symptoms.  I have now developed headaches.  Only on the left side of my head, and dizziness when I move my head suddenly back and forth.  I also have blurry vision when I try to read or look at something up close.  The headaches are not intense, but they are annoying enough to make me grumpy and irritable.  Not a good thing when two pre-school age kids, and a baby are constantly wanting my attention.  Also a little side note--I suffered badly from the baby blues after I had my baby.  I never experienced it with my other two.  It was awful--I cried in the shower, getting dressed, leaving the house, going to bed.  I was a real mess.  It lasted for 2 weeks.  My stomach aches and diarrhea began around that time.  I have not seen a doc yet for any of this.  Honestly, I'm a stay at home mom, and I literally don't have the time to see my PCP.  What do you think?

Thank you so much for your time.

Answer
hi sweet tanya, im so sorry you are having a rough time right now.
have you tried to evaluate your diet? what we put in our bodies is soo important, and healing..i would try to cut out alot of the dairy and meat..substituting veggies, fruit, and whole grains (nuts!)
my true thoughts are you should make an appointment very soon to see your MD, i believe you need a physician assessment..i wish i could be more help to you, but i believe all your symptoms should be evaluated by a MD.
much kindness,
hope you are enjoying your beautiful newborn,
