i had a vaginal ultrasound done they said my baby measured 8 weeks but they could not detect heartbeat activity. am i having a miscariage?

Answer
At 8 weeks, it may be that they had a difficult time finding the heartbeat and not that there wasn't one- which is entirely possible at such an early gestational age. However, if you have cramping or bleeding you should seek medical attention at once.  In addition, if you are worried about miscarriage, I would contact your OB/GYN and discuss the findings of the ultrasound.
