Persistent Postpartum Bleeding After Premature Delivery: Causes & What to Expect

Question
Good day. I lost my 24 week baby on the 15th of May 2008 and uptill today, (14th of July 08) I am still bleeding.
The bleeding starts and stops, all the time with a heavy mucousy discharge. In the past week it will stop altogether for a few hours then come back. I have mild stomach cramps sometimes before the onset of bleeding. What could be the matter with me.

Answer
Normal lochia (postpartum bleeding) can last 8-12 weeks in some women.  It is also very, very sensitive to activity levels.  Try resting and doing very little physical activity for a few days, and see if the bleeding decreases.  If not, follow up with your doctor.
