Vaginal Tenderness in Late Pregnancy: Causes & Relief for First-Time Mothers

Question
I'm a first time mother I'm only 18 so everything is new to me all these changes I'm now in the last three weeks of my pregnancy and i have been having external tenderness in the vaginal area it is mostly tender when i wipe after going to the restroom is that normal and why would that be happening and is there anything i can do to make it less tender to the touch.

Answer
Hi Averley,

Towards the very end of pregnancy you will have a lot more aches and pains in that area, so I would say what you are experiencing is normal. The baby's head is putting a lot of pressure on the pelvic floor. Sometimes it will even cause sharp, shooting pains. I would not worry about it unless you are having bleeding or weird discharge.
