Persistent Dry, Itchy Areola: Causes & When to Worry

Question
Hi, so it's been about 3 years since this occurred. It all started when I visited the east coast during the winter and when I returned, my right areola breast were flaking and peeling. Since then, the flaking has stopped but there are these dry spots and it tends to itch intensely. I've went to see my doctor twice [two different ones] and they all told me it's nothing to worry about and to put some lotion on it and it'll go away. However, it hasn't gone away at all...should I be concerned? What can it be? I keep thinking maybe it's because my skin is dry or the weather is causing it to be dry?

Answer
Maybe, but let a skin doctor (dermatologist) check it to be on the safe side. If the skin doctor after examination tells you it is not dangerous you probably do not need to worry. Good luck!
