QuestionMy daughter went to doctor for a depo-provera shot and got it. She was 18 at the time and has never had a Pap. She went in to see the doctor for the first time and walked out with a shot. She has been on her period ever since... 4 months now.
Why didn't they give her a Pap? Now, we can't afford to go back for a doctor visit to find out what is wrong and plus.. she no longer wants that type of BC cause of bleeding and bad hormone side effects.
I did not learn of the "no Pap" till recently.
AnswerHi Norma,
I can't speak for the doctor whom your doctor went to. In my opinion, you are right and your daughter should have been given a PAP test. I don't recommend depo provera or any kind of hormonal birth control method because of side effects and risks.
You can't always trust the medical community and you should always do research and check out health information. I found this out when I learned what the birth control pill really entails and my doctor had not told me any of the side effects or that it could be an abortifacient.
Please always check out what the doctor tells you or any member of your family. I presume she will not have an other shot? Please email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com and we can talk more on email.
Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
