Depo Shot Side Effects & Regulating Your Period: Options & Advice

Question
Hi,

I began taking depo in feb of 2012 (this year) and I have been spotting/bleeding since my second shot in late April... I want to start having a family within the next 4 months. I am unable to be intimate with my boyfriend and it's frustrating for a number of reasons...  I am scheduled to take another shot on July 25th which I don't plan to take... I want to start regulating my period and I was wondering if I should take the pill or a low dose of bc to regulate and period toward ovulating... I hope this makes sense... Please advise...

Answer
Hi Yve,

I'm so sorry that I was not able to answer before July 25th. Did you take the shot? I would not recommend that you do but I didn't reply in time. I don't ever recommend depo or any kind of hormonal birth control methods. This is because of the side effects, such as you are mentioning. Are you unable to have sex because of the bleeding?
