Starting Estrostep Birth Control: A Guide for Beginners
QuestionHi,
I never took birth control before and I decided its finally time to start. I have the Estrostep pills and my doctor told me to start them on the first Sunday of my next period. I noticed there were 7 brown pills and the rest were differently shaped white ones. Which once do I start with? What if my period starts on Monday and is over with by Friday...do I still start on Sunday? Thanks for all information in advance.
AnswerHi,
You can start your birth control pills the first day of your period, then you are protected from pregnancy from day one. I am not familiar with the Estrostep pills but from your description you will have to start with the white differently shaped ones. The 7 brown ones are hormone-free and it is while you take these that you will have your period. I strongly advise you to read the instructions in the package, as everything you have to know about your birth control can be found there.
If you prefer to start on a Sunday you can start the first Sunday of your next period regardless if you are still bleeding or not.
I will be glad to answer any more of your birth control questions. :-)
