Starting Estrostep: A Guide to Birth Control Pill Use & Effectiveness

I never took birth control before and I decided its finally time to start. I have the Estrostep pills and my doctor told me to start them on the first Sunday of my next period. I noticed there were 7 brown pills and the rest were differently shaped white ones. Which once do I start with? What if my period starts on Monday and is over with by Friday...do I still start on Sunday? Also, when can I start having unprotected sex and they be affective? Thanks for all information in advance.

Finally time to start taking the risks that all your friends are taking?  Finally time to ignore your fertility and wonder each month if you are pregnant or experiencing side effects?  

I don't know anything about your start dates.  Please call your doctor or his nurse and ask.

No pill is going to be 100% effective, so you take a risk all the time, so unprotected sex is your choice.
