QuestionHi Diane,
I recently went to the gyno just for a routine check up and some questions/concerns about birth control pills.
I was also recently been diagnosed with diabetes and pre-hypertension. The doctor said any birth control pills or the even nuvaring would effect my blood pressure. She also suggested something called an IUD. ParaGard to be exact. I did as much research as I could on it. I know about all the benefits/side effects/warnings etc for it but my question is, how common is it for the iud to become truly perforated? I know in the research it says 1 out of 1000 but is it truly that?? Have you heard of it happening more often? One of the reason that it could become perforated is if i have a small uterus from not giving birth before. This is what im really scared of =|
AnswerHi Amy,
I'm not a doctor but I have heard stories about the ParaGard. I would not recommend it, but that's just my opinion. Try looking up risks of Paragard IUD or testimonies. Don't just go by the website of the manufacturer.
But just in common sense, if you look at the IUD, does that look natural? To me, it's just kind of scary to think about something like that being in your body. And the other thing, is that you can't take it out yourself, you're at the mercy of a doctor. I had a question here once and the doctor didn't want to take it out of the woman who wanted to have it taken out. I just wouldn't want something unnatural in my body like that.
Could you tell me more about why you need to be on birth control? Oh, I have another link to share with you but can't find it right now. It's about natural means of birth control. Also, there is something called Natural Family Planning or NFP. You can find an expert here at allexperts.com named Brigid and perhaps she can tell you more about NFP. I think it's under women's health and then Natural Family Planning. Please email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com and we can talk more.
Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
