Understanding Conception After Abortion & Emergency Contraception

Question
Dear Diane,
I had an abortion on the 15th of January this year. My Dr. had told me that I would get my perids within a month. As per her predictions, my periods started on the 16th of Feb. I had a normal menstrual cycle. As expected I got my periods this month on the 13th. Today, it is the 5th day of my periods. This morning, I had unprotected sex with my Man. Want to know is there a chance of Conception? Also are I-pills(Emergency Contraceptive Pills) safe and do they affect future pregnancy? Last but not the least how do I calculate my Menstrual cycle and the ovulation period? I read a lot of articles online which say that conception if possible during periods...I do not know if it is possible.

Do I need to take an I-pill for safety sake?
Awaiting your response.

Regards,

Shona

Answer
Hi Sohni,

Thanks for your question. Did you go ahead and take the I-pill? Here we call it the morning after pill or Plan B. I don't recommend it and here is a link to read about it.
http://www.optionline.org and click on the link for Morning after pill.
Because of each woman's individual ovulation times, it could be possible that you could get pregnant. I would recommend that you contact the expert here on ALLEXPERTS.com to find out about Natural Family Planning. There is an expert here named Brigid. I think she is under Women's Health and NFP (Natural Family Planning.)
