Yeast Infections After Stopping Birth Control: What You Need to Know

Question
can you get a yeast infection from going off the pill..

Answer
Not usually.  However, yeast are commonly present in women's vaginas.  Infections occur when they overgrow, and one of the things that causes them to overgrow is the hormonal conditions, which lead to more sugar in the vaginal secretions.  Usually that means that just before a period or during pregnancy, the hormones are favorable for yeast.  When you go off the pill, your ovaries are starting to make your own hormones, and perhaps the hormonal conditions could promote yeast.  I haven't heard of it being a problem though.  Kind of a long answer to a short question.
