Birth Control Start Date: What's the Best Approach?
QuestionI just started taking birth control, like today. When I went in today, the nurse said that she suggested I start the sunday after my period, so that my pack would be on track and it would be effective immediately. She said that I could start today though (Monday) and just take Sunday's (to be caught up) and today's pills if I wanted to avoid having my period when my boyfriend got home in a week. I started my period a few hours after I took the pills.
Should I continue taking the pills through out my period. Or stop and pick up where I left off in my pack next week because my period has started since only 2 pills are missing or...?
AnswerHi Brittany,
I'm sorry but I've been traveling and just got your question. I know that it's kind of late so wondered what has been happening with you. Please email me at DWooley97@aol.com because I can be reached quicker there than on allexperts. But do put ALLEXPERTS in the subject line. I will be waiting to hear from you. I have been advising women about birth control, abortion, and sexual issues for 21 years so I would be glad to still help you if I can.
