QuestionMy girl friend and I have just started having sex and she is on birth control. However she was originally taking it to regulate her period but I'm not to sure it has been helping. I've noticed her periods last a really long time, sometimes up to 3 weeks. The questions I have concerning this are:
1. If the pill is not helping to regulate her period does that mean it is not working to prevent her from getting pregnant?
2. Is this normal for a woman to have periods lasting in weeks?
3. Lastly, what is more effective to prevent pregnancy. A condom or the pill?
Thanks
Answer1. No, just because the pill is not working to regulate her period, that does not mean it's not working for birth control. However, any kind of birth control method is not 100% safe in preventing pregnancy.
2. No, it's not normal for her to have a period lasting for weeks. I would recommend she go to her doctor.
3. The pill is probably more effective than a condom but neither are a 100% safe. Also, the pill is hormones so I don't believe that is healthy for a women.
