Pregnancy After Abortion: Understanding Your Fertility

Question
I had an abortion about 1yr ago...and have had my regular period ever since ...never missed one or never late. But now I have been reading stuff saying sometimes after having an abortion you may never be able to have a child. I took birth control right after I had the procedure, but stopped after 3months due to no medical or insurance. I'm just freaking out that me getting the abortion and taking birth control and then stopping, I wont ever be able to have a child. My question is what are the chances of not being able to after done all this??

Answer
Tiffany, there is nothing to be concerned about.  The information about not being able to get pregnant again is political, not medical information, and is spread by people who are trying to convince women not to have abortions.  Infertility after an abortion is an extremely rare complication that happens less than 1/100,000 cases.  If your abortion went well, you should not have concerns. You should feel confident that you will be able to get pregnant when you want to.
I hope this is helpful,
