Regretting Medical Abortion & Trying to Conceive: What to Expect

Question
My girlfriend and I had a medical abortion and we deeply regretted the decision.  We have since had a lot of clarity and want to have a baby.  We tried exactly two weeks after the medical abortion pill.  We only tried once as she is sore. The cramping was gone but after we had sex she has started feeling the cramping in her ovaries very similar to how she felt when she did first get pregnant almost the next day.  We really hope we are but not sure of the chances.  She goes for her 3 week follow up... Is there anything we should worry about?  What are the chances we are expecting?

Answer
Hi Joe,

It probably wasn't the best idea to have sex 2 weeks after the abortion unless your doctor said it was ok. I'm sorry to hear of your story and your regret. If she or you have any emotional or other side effects, please email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com and I can send you some healing information. I don't know of anything else to worry about but it's important for her to go for that checkup. I don't know the chances of pregnancy. Try not to stress too much about immediately getting pregnant. This is one of the common side effects after abortion of wanting to get pregnant again. It's important to get some counseling (in person or by mail) because you need to find out more about your decision and how to proceed.

Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
