Unsuccessful Abortion Experience: Seeking Information and Support

Question
So I found out I was pregnant and decided to have an abortion. I decided to have an aspiration because I was under 4 weeks, they told my I couldn't take the RU pill, The aspiration was unsuccessful, they couldn't get though my cervix, so they told me that I had to finish the procedure and that I couldn't carry to full term. They didn't tell me why. So I took the RU pill, It was unsuccessful, I took another round of the RU and it was unsuccessful, So I went to Sacramento for a comfort sleep abortion and it was unsuccessful due to the positioning of my uterus, the fetus isn't growing but the sac is. I don't know what to do and I am scared that all these procedures are going to affect me having children later in life. I am still pregnant and have to go to San Francisco for a laparoscopy in a week if i don't naturally miscarry. Please help me! Also, I don't want any other women to have to go through this. So, I am going to speak to an attorney about the legal matters.

Answer
Hi Shayla,
your story is very very uncommon.
At first: the position of the uterus can NEVER make an abortion impossible. The one who tried to perform that abortion, and could not, was not a professional ObGyn doctor..
secondly: At 4 weeks the RU pill works in over 99%. Was it really RU, or some fakepill from the black market?
Thirdly: the sac is growing but the embryo is not. This is called a blighted ovum. Not very uncommon and not dangerous.

Its a good idea to have an ultrasound again at a good hospital. Laparoscopy seems overdone in this stadium of your pregnancy. A blighted ovum  (no embryo) will normally result in a spontaneous abortion.
Give it some time.
A legal act will be not successful. Only the attorney will profit from it. Women are different and nature is full of tricks.
You were just very unlucky. I understand that this answer does not help you a lot.
But patience will help you. Many young pregnancies end in a spontaneous abortion. Normally that does not influence ones fertility.
take care and good luck,

Dr Shan
