Post-Abortion Period: What to Expect After 8 Weeks

It has been exactly 8 weeks since I had an abortion and I still haven't had a period. I had sex with my boyfriend 4 weeks after the abortion using protection. Is it normal not to have a period this long?

Dear Nicole,

Did you have a post abortion checkup? This should have been scheduled so you would know what is going on. I don't know how normal it is to wait 8 weeks to have a period but I do know that a woman's cycle can be abnormal after an abortion.

I would seek medical advice. Please let me know what happens.
