Massage Therapy and Nausea: Potential Causes and Considerations
QuestionMy grandmother, who is 86, has been having lower back, hip and knee pain. She has recently started physical therapy, which includes traction on her knee, and massage therapy in the areas that are causing her pain. It seems that after a massage, she frequently experiences nausea. What could be causing this?
Thanks --
Janeen
AnswerHi Janeen,
Does your grandmother experience any nausea when she gets out of bed or off the couch? Ask her if when she turns her head (like shoulder checking in a car) if she gets dizzy. Does her massage therapist do any screening tests on her to find out what needs to be worked on? All these things can lead to nausea. Have her ask her massage therapist to do a VBI test on her and as well have her ask her doctor about it. Please let me know what happens with this situation. Take care and happy new year.
