QuestionI'm doing a college assignment on contra-indications to massage. One aspect is about temporary conditions and an example is given as 'ingestion of antibiotic drugs'. Please can you explain why this is a contra-indication.
AnswerThanks for the inquiry, Rose.
FYI, as experts we are not obliged to answer homework questions, but yours is simple so here goes:
Whenever a person is ingesting antibiotic drugs, that is a clear indication that the body's immune system is already compromised by a bacterial infection somewhere, aka contraindication. Performing a massage in addition to that releases negative chemicals from the muscles into the same immune system which potentially causes a double-compromise causing the immune system to have to work twice as hard as it should.
Hope that helps you.
