QuestionIt has been 48 hours since I received a massage and I have been sick ever since. I have had a headache, I have vomited and continue to feel nausea and it doesn't seem to be improving. I started reading up on it and apparently I didn't hydrate properly after the massage. I have started drinking a lot of water but I am still feeling sick. How long do these symptoms last and is there anything else I can do?
AnswerHi, Thanks for your question.
Although rare, your symptoms are something which I have come across about a dozen times in 20 years.
It might be 1 of 4 things which I can think of.
1/ Not proper hydration after massage (quite unlikely)
2/ Build up of shifting toxins from the muscles. (Quite unlikely according to your symptoms)
3/ A coincidental virus or bug which is in your system. (very possible)
4/ An allergy to the essential oil that was used during the massage (very possible) eg: lavender, tea tree etc unless there was no essential oil added to the carrier oil. Did it have a smell? If yes ask the massage therapist what essential oil was used.
If its a virus it will pass within 3 or 4 days. Please speak to your doctor for nausea medication
If its the oil, 1/ stay away from any dairy products for about 5 days and buy over the counter charcoal tablets taking 3 times a day or as per instructions. They will absorb any extra toxins in your gut and are not absorbed by the body so they are 100% harmless. Kindly note that you have to speak to your doctor before taking charcoal IF YOU ARE TAKING OTHER MEDICATIONS. Charcoal also absorbs these medicines making them ineffective.
Hope this helps
Kind regards
