Post-Massage Side Effects: What to Expect After Your First Massage
QuestionI recently had my first neck and back massage. I decided to get the massage due to tension migraines and on the recommendation of my doctor and chiro.
After the 50 minute massage, I was weak, light headed, and felt like I was coming down with the flu. Additionally, my migraine came back immediately after the massage at the highest intensity level I have ever experienced. Is this normal after getting a massage? If so, why does it happen?
AnswerHi Dena,
No this is not normal to experience. Light headed is sometimes a symptom of getting up too fast, but a headache even a migraine after the massage is not normal at all. I would consult your doctor and even see a different therapist. A different therapist because all therapists treat differently. It may have been the type of treatment wasn't right for your body.
