Sciatica Treatment: Understanding the 'Through the Sheet' Technique

After several wonderful deep tissue treatments for neck and lower back
issues, my next appointment with my MT will primarily be for a possible
sciatic nerve problem affecting my leg.  When talking with my MT to discuss
her method for addressing this, she talked about working more in the lower
back and also the glutes.  I believe she stated she would do the glute work
"through the sheet".  Is that normal and is it effective?

Hi JD,

The sheet method is both effective and not so much. Through the sheet you can do more of pressure points, but pulling down the sheet and exposing only the area being worked on is much more effective because then both pressure points and deeper work can be done. Hope this helps.
