Post-Hip Replacement Muscle Tightness: Causes & Relief

Question
In Feb. I had a total hip replacement.  In my recovery therapy they found that all my muscles are tighter than most that they have seen.  They have worked on loosening me up with massage and exercises but as soon as my next appointment everything would be tightened again.  They (my therapists) taught me how to feel for the "lumps", especially in my upper legs, which they explained as areas of lactic acid build up.  They also showed me how to self massage these areas to ease (not eradicate) the pain.  Now I am out of insurance for physical therapy and I still am in as much pain and as tight as I was when I first started in Mar.  I have been diagnosed with asthma, Hashimoto thyroid, fibromyalgia,(although that has been in remission for 9 mos.), spondylolosthesis, arthritis, and osteopenia.    Beside the therapy I do see a Chiropractor but have run out of insurance visits with that also.   Is there anything left to do to get the "knots" out?

Answer
Hi Sandi

I apologize for the assumption, here's a more appropriate response to your question.

Infra red heat has been the most helpful in the case where you are dealing with post surgery influences.

My wife and I use a herbal heating pad, the company is called Soulage therapy solutions, inc 866-296-7425

They have herbs inside such as clove and cinnamon, you put them in the microwave for 3 minutes then place it on the area of need. It helps to relieve any immediate tension.
