Fibromyalgia & Neck Pain: Understanding Shoulder Blade Issues

Question
hello

i was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. it all started when i was studying for long periods, looking down, and then i went and did some weight training on my neck soon after.

i got hurt and didnt go for treatment, and obviously it got worse.

thankfully i am alot better than that time, my main problem is according to my physio is that the muscles around the shoulder blade are weak, apparently the shoulder blade moves off the spine or something like that.

i was thinkin that the muscles have obviously been working in the wrong way for a long time, so maybe they are think they should be in that position, like muscle memory. is this possible?

how would i undo this memory then? which massage would be best to release any repressed emotions in that area?

thanks

My wife also had a condition similar to yours, when during her college days not only from studying but working nights as a waitress as well.

You pretty much figured it out for yourself, now the recovery part. How to heal is to step back into time and see what kind of energy you were taking from your physical body.

Studying long hours in the same posture.
Maybe coffee/caffeine was and is part of your daily routine
Mental stress of exams pass fail stuff
Emotional roller coaster of "what ifs" running through your mind
And of course the weightlifting

In summary we have nutrition loss, we have repetitive motions without counter stretching or strengthening, then scar tissue from a muscle strain to the already weakened neck muscles. Then a lapse of time dealing with the pain until your body says hey man enough is enough! :)

Solution:

First thing Nutrition, the body cannot heal itself on chips, pretzels, beer and fast food. That's fun food not food to keep you healthy and live long enough to play with your grandchildren. It's real important to start taking Omega 3 oil (flaxseed) it's from a plant so it doesn't taste bad. I take Barleans Essential Omega Man. A tablespoon in the morning with orange juice or some type of juice. A whole food multivitamin, something from a healthfood store, Centrum and One a day are for fun and clever marketing. Plenty of spring water. Cut back on sodas/coffee/fake sugars all this is for fun and once and a while. Keep this up and your body will look like sponge Bob.

Second Non obtrusive therapy at first, such as Reiki or a light massage you can do yourself. Buy two tennis balls put them in an old sock, tie a knot so the balls are against each other. Now put them on the floor, get onto your back and place them behind your neck. With your feet push yourself so the tennis balls start rolling down your back, then roll the other way. At first this may be painful, but the benefits after are well worth it.

Third Acupuncture, this will stimulate the nerves in your muscles to begin strengthening. The neck muscles will respond well to this treatment, plus the emotional benefits too.

Lastly if you are up for it, I did this on my wife and it worked wonders. It's called cupping. The ancient Asians and Arabians discovered by putting glass bulbs on your back that create a vacuum draw out toxins stuck in your damaged muscles and surrounding tissue. You want the type of cupping that is mild, it's kind of like getting a big hickey but the blood is purposefully drawn to the surface of the skin for healing not for an indicator of an enjoyable evening.

There is a solution to everything, we just need to see what energy we took out of something so that we can put back the energy we took. Whatever the names doctors give it, understand this it's your body and you know what's best. What will work and what won't.

My wife is almost completely healed from her fibro whatever. It just takes common sense to see the body needs the environment to heal itself. So again briefly:

1. Good Nutrition - Without you are choosing to live with your condition until your final dirt nap.

2. Gentle massage - Reiki - Tennis ball massage every day

3. Acupuncture - You can do this anytime

4. Cupping - This will blow your mind on how painful it is and how the ancient cultures cured muscle injuries. (the word to note is cured)

5. Follow your intuition, you are your own guru. No one knows what will work for your body the best but you.

To your healing
