IBD French Gel Nail Irritation: Causes & Relief

Question
Sylvia, i have had the ibd permanent french gel nails applied for at least and year, by the sane technician, and recently i have been having a burning, itching sensation after about 5hours of application.  When i would come home from the salon, the cuticle area would itch and tiny bumps appear there within 12 hours - of course i was scratching, hence the bumps, but also when i put my hands in warm water, they would be sentisitive at the cuticle area as well.  This lasted 1 day then done.  Would you consider this an allergy? or can i try another form of perm french such as acrylic? what would you recommend?  I have removed them now and the nails did lift quite a bit from the beds, sometimes almost 1/2 way up to cuticle.  Thanks for any insight. Kate

Answer
Dear Kate,

Sorry to hear this, obviously this is an allergic reaction:What we have to do now is to find out where it comes from. It is a bit strange that you get this reaction all of a sudden. I will ask you a few questions and see what we can find out:

1. Are you pregnant? ( due to the change in the hormonal structure your nails can lift)
2. Do you take hormone medicines or any strong medicines?
3. Did your gel nails lift or your natural nails?
4. Did your technician change the brand of the products? ( no name products can have inferior and hazardous chemical ingredients)
5. Does your nail tech sanitize her tools before the service?

Please let me now you findings..in the mean time I would let your nails and cuticles heal a bit in case you wish to have new nails: EzFlow nailsystems has a new acrylic system calles HD ( High Definition) which is a primerless application with time released plasticizers, an excellent product. Please check if your tech can supply this.

Hope to hear from you soon so we can find out how we can fix the problem.
