Question
Dear Jeannie,
My name is Mo, and my girlfriend is looking for a nail product that helps her grow nails and which also has a bitter taste, cause she keeps chewing on them.
Can you please advise me with a product that can also be easily found in drugstores?
Thanks a lot
AnswerMo, I'm not so familiar with what is carried in drug stores. I'm sure you could find something in any store, especially wal-mart. But my question would be, "Is it a quality product." I have heard of another product through a fellow technician called "CONTROL-IT!" I have found the website, its a fairly new product and hasn't made it completely across the US. If you go to www.stopbitingnails.com and look up retail locations, you can see if you can get it locally. There is also a free trial somewhere on there! But check it out.
The thing that draws me to this product:
1) It has Vitamins A&E which promotes growth.
A lot of times nail biters fail at quitting because there is such little progress. But when you see a quick change, its inspiring. It keeps the biter motivated.
2) It has Aloe which is a natural healer.
Often nail biters have dry cuticles because they have their fingers in and out of their mouths drying up the cuticles. No real moisture gets to them for a good amount of time. Dry cuticles lead to hangnails. Hangnails lead to another habit; cuticle biting. The Aloe will help heal the cuticles so that there is no need to bite at them.
3) It has a bitter taste to it.
Stop nail biting products, all need to have a bitter taste to them. This product is a cream rather than a polish and would most likely be a little stronger to the taste buds! This product also has two strengths for lesser or more severe cases.
But Mo, I have never tried this product. What I have read on it has led me to believe it could be a pretty good product. I like the idea that its a cream. There is also a free trial!
And one last thing, I want to stress how important it is for the nail biter to be disciplined during treatment, follow the instructions, make applications when it says, and use the treatment as long as it says. It takes time to kick a habit, try to form a new positive habit. Otherwise you're wasting your time and money!
Thanks, I hope I could help!
