QuestionDear Heather.
I live in Miami Beach Florida. I just returned from a salon where got a full set of gel nails. The technician did a terrible job. Each nail is of a different shape, they look fat and not very even and now my nail beds hurt. He was using a drill most of the time. It was not easy to communicate with him either. I think I ended up in one of those "nail mills" where both the husband and wife jump from a client to client.
I wanted to know if #1 you or anyone on this site can refer me to a reputable place in Miami Beach or Miami? #2 is it normal for the nails to hurt like this? #3 I read that you don't have to rough up the nail plate with the drill so that the product sticks better if you are using good products. Is that true? If so what type of product should I ask for?
I greatly appreciate any help that you can give me. Thank you in advance for you time.
Kasia
AnswerHi Kasia!
I just got your e-mail and sent you referral information :)
I also want you to know that what you experienced is NOT normal or ACCEPTABLE! If your tech is using high quality product, all that's needed for product to adhere is to remove the shine from your nails with a 240 or higher grit file- and all that does is remove the moisture layer.
Best thing to do is call and ask what products they are using in the salon, then google them to death! Look up the products, look up anything that's been said about the products, and then go in and ask to SEE the nails on another client. Ask to see the jars they keep their product in, and if the jars they use are unlabeled, ask to see where the main supply comes from.
CND, OPI, NSI, EZFLOW are all names of reputable nail product manufacturing companies.
Check the e-mail I sent you for more help. :)
