QuestionWent to get pedicure and the pedicurist went in the back of the store and got a pumice stone(new or used?) and scrubbed my foot until i have a burning spot on my heel. Scared of infection due to pregnancy. What should I do? I did call the staore and they had me come in and put some medication on my foot. Will that be enough?
AnswerFrancine~
Thank you so very much for your post.
I am sorry to hear that a professional actually did this to you~ Wow, Must she/He have been recently trained or perhaps' you had a Callous did you? Or A lot of dry skin maybe?
Have you ever been to this salon or service provider before this? And had she ever given you any other service?
Did you advise the Esthy that it was hurting you or maybe it did not hurt at the time? What was her reply?
What did this service provider say when you spoke to the salon professional whom provided the pedicure service to you, about the outcome of your pedicure? I would have given you your money back and more attention than you could handle but now that i think about it, it would not have taken place initally ~
Has the skin broken?
Was there bleeding?
Were the implements new?
Was she wearing gloves? I certainly hope so, especially if there was broken skin or blood, if not speak to her boss right away, as i need to advise you that ALL salons are required by their State Health Department to Properly STERILIZE their salon implements and use disposable goods as well.IF it was ME in your position, I would keep notes and get the person's name, work number, etc. and start keeping track of your calls, e-mail's, visits, communication with everyone you spoke with at the same salon.
I am NOT trying to scare you ok, but whom ever did this service was obviously trained, I have never heard of this! Did you ask for extra hard scrubbing in this area? If so, then there is likely not a lot you can do.
Did this Esthy follow health guidelines? Sterilize the foots, new files, sterilized cuticle nippers and other implements, etc. did she wear gloves? Did you have to pay for this service?
Did anyone apologize to you?
Was there any follow up calls or contact after you left the salon or after you spoke or notified the salon or Esthy?
What type of medication did they give you? Did they provide you with extra medication for home use or ask you to come back for another application?
Did they advise you of any contra-indications, for example side effect of the cream, or what you might expect in the upcoming days while this abrasion was healing?
Can you provide me with this info so I can further consider the situation please.
As I am very eager Francine to investigate this with you, IF YOU WISH> I do not and wish not to get involved legally or with the salon and only wish to help you ok but you should think about things further if this incident causes you loss of income, infection, you cannot walk on your foot loss of enjoyment then I would consider asking for some sort of reimbursement as ALL salon are legally supposed to be covered with insurance for these types of situations. IF they are not then they soon will be. You might wish to find out how long the Esthy has been practicing, where she worked previously and if there has been other issues or complaints to her employer or the Aesthetics or Cosmetology licensing board or the Better Business Bureau in your state/region, City, etc.
Have a terrific day Francine. I hope your foot heal's fast and there is not any infection developing ( red, inflammation usually is the sign of infection) I really hope you reply to me/my reply.
IF you feel this is of a private nature and wish not to post online for the whole world to see, then please by ALL MEANS e-mail me privately at my business.... AT the following e-mail address(s)
