QuestionI have acrylics on now and have had them for about 2 months. I'm always afraid to leave them on too long and maybe damage my real nails. Is there a certain amount of time before you should remove them for awhil?
AnswerGood evening Nancy;
This is a good question and one that has been asked a number of times. YOU will get different answers from different Nail Techs. IN ALL honestly, anything with chemical's you put on your nail for long periods of time are not great for your nail.
I would suggest about every 8-12 week at the most, then give your nails a break, as your nailplate under the enhancements will get soft and will be sensetive as well, there are no nerves in the plate but under the hard heratin there are nerves and if the plate is anyway damaged and/or soft you will feel it if left on too long or if you ripped one of or removed them by prying them off yourself. Be sure to have them removed professionally..... by all means.
So, to answer your question. Depending on the person and how they react to the enhancements anywhere from 8 to 12 weeks is good, no longer, give your nails a break to get healthy for a month and then re-apply them if you choose.
While they are getting healthy pay attention to them well, care for them, give yourself manicures and rub oil into your cuticles as well.
I hope this answers your question. By all means please reply if you reqiure more info.
Thank you and have yourself a wonderful summer Nancy.
