QuestionHi my name is Anita I am 25 years old and this is my first pregnancy and I am having a hard time figuring out my date of conception. It really is stressing me out not knowing, because of paternity reasons. LMP around May 15-17.
I remember spotting a little on may 15, 2005 and then having heavier bleeding for a few days. On may 15 a little penetration had occured. It did not go all the way in because I stopped him. We did have sex at least 2 mores times that week with protection. I did not have sex from May 21 until about 4:00 a.m. May 27th without protection and full ejaculation inside me. I do not recall having sex again until possibly June 4th, unprotected but did not finish, and sometime after the 5th, which the first time after the 5th was protected, but after that it was not. I do not track my cycles I usually just know when they are about to happen. I did not have a period in June. I found out that I was pregnant on June 23 by a home pregnancy test. It was confirmed by a doctor on June 24th. My first ultrasound was done on September 27th and from my LMP possible 19 wks. U/S gave an EDD for Feb 22, 2006 and determined I was having a boy. I have been measuring equal to my weeks. At my last appt on Dec. 29 I measured 32 cm, which is equal to my weeks. I know that a paternity test after the baby is born is the best, but I had a prenatal paternity test done on December 12, and the results came back on Dec 31 and the guy that I had sex with on May 27th was not the father. Everything adds up the my ultrasound date, but I don't know what to look at or what to think. Please answer back, any advice would be helpful and possible calming.

AnswerIf you have a normal 28 day cycle (from the first day of your period until the first day of your next period) ovulation occurs on cycle day #14. You can only become pregnant if you have unprotected sex on cycle day #13, 14, 15, or 16. If your last period started on May 15, you would have ovulated around May 28 and could ONLY have conceived if you had sex on May 27,28,29, or 30. Your due date is February 22, 2006. How many weeks did the sonogram that was done on September 27 show? Did it agree with the 19 weeks by LMP? Therefore, the father must be the guy you had sex wit4h on May 27 if you had no sex with anyone else around that time. It is possible that the prenatal paternity test was not accurate. YOu may have to wait until the baby is born ane repeat the paternity test. Did you have an amniocentesis to get fluid from the baby? Did you take swabs of your mouth and the suspected father's mouth?
