Acetone-Based Nail Polish Remover & Pregnancy: Safety Concerns

Question
Hi, I've read everywhere that it's safe to paint your nails during pregnancy. My concern is the nail polish remover (with acetone). Whenever I paint my nails I always mess up and have to start over, so I use a lot of the remover and can never seem to get away from the smell. I don't paint my nails that often, but is the remover still really harmful to my baby?

Answer
HI Cassie

I have serviced manicures to alot of pregnant women and as far as I am aware there has been no complications to their newborns at all.
Actually most bring thier babies in to se me when they are born.
IF you worked consistantly and daily around acetone and fumes from acrylic, you would definitly have to wear a mask pregnant or not to be safe and not inhale the fumes. But if not then I would have to say it is safe.

Acetone is not required to remove polish so if you are worried the least little bit, I would use a NON acetone remover, for piece of mind.

Thank you for your question. If I come across anymore info on thsi subject I will post a follow up.

Otherwise, Best Wishes and Congratulations on your pregnancy. I hope you have a very happy healthy baby~

I wish you and your's a very happy life.
