Why Does Clear Nail Polish Turn Yellow? Causes & Solutions

when I put clear nail polish on it looks fine at first but w/in a day or so it turns yellowish. I have thrown out polish in case it was old but new stuff still does it. I have put the clear on top of a color and even then it turns yellow. What is cause and what to do.

The polish you are using is a low-grade clear coat.  No way around it, unless it's just a bad batch.

Try using a clear coat with a UV shield in it, they tend to have blue tones in them that counteract yellowing.

My favorites are "Super Shiney" and a nail strengthener called "Toughen Up," by Creative Nail Designs, now called CND.

Also, keep your polishes in a cool, dark place.  I keep my home enamels in the fridge in the butter cooler. :)
