QuestionHi,
I'm slightly confused about whether getting overlays over my real nails is dangerous for my unborn baby - I get this done every 2 or 3 weeks and the salon I visit use a fine white powder and a strong smelling liquid to paint on the overlay, it is quite fast drying and has not actually damaged the nail below as I've had them removed before - can you help?
Answerhi wendy can u give me a little more info, are u in the UK ? what area, is the salon a Korean/asian run place. Do the staff wear masks while they work? It sounds as if you are describing acrylic nails, i wore fibreglass nails thru both my pregnancies and had no probs, my GP said i would have to bath in the stuff before itwould affect me, i was still worried anyway, my only concern for you would be if the salon you visit is reputable, carries out top hygiene standards and uses UK LABELLED products, it is not good if all the products are unlabelled as they then may be coming in from countries selling cheap, unsafe products. I hope this helps, if you are unsure, have a chat with your GP or the local health authority and have the salon checked, are all the staff qualified and experienced?

yes wendy, unfortunately those places are not good, if you type MMA nails into google and have a read up on the products they use, the are dangerous. I would advise you to soak them off. best wishes
