QuestionQUESTION: I have a question possibly pertaining to medication. I have been experiencing a low libido and some other symptoms such as lack of appetite. I also have noticed that I can't feel an adrenaline rush or startle response when I get startled or scared. I have always had this before. I have been taking the Medications Risperdal(1MG) lowered recently from 2MG as well as 10MG of Lexapro and .5MG of Clonazepam. Could these be side effects from the medications or could they be related to some other condition such as low testosterone? I am a male 30 years old.
ANSWER: Dear Mike,
I am not sure I understand. You say you have always had these symptoms, but are asking me if it is related to the medications. Are the symptoms worse?

QUESTION: Sorry I meant that I always had a startle response before. All of the symptoms have started recently.
AnswerDear Mike,
All three drugs can cause decreased libido, and Rispersal can cause decreased appetite. Lexapro and Klonopin usually cause appetite increase.
All three medications are used for anxiety and panic disorder, so the fact that you are not getting that "startle" or "adrenaline rush" sensation means that the medications are doing what they are supposed to do.
As far as the libido and the side effects, if they are very troubling for you, which I can imagine they must be, please speak with your physician. He/she may be able to tweak the dosages, or change medications or something to help you.
If there is any other way I can help you, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Best wishes,
Andrea
