Microgestin 30/1.5: Side Effects & When is it Active?

Question
WHEN TAKING  MICROGESTIN 30/1.5 WAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS? AND WHEN DO THE PILLS BECOME ACTIVE?

Answer
Hi Amari,

The side effects of the pill (all brands) include breakthrough bleeding, nausea, breast tenderness, mood changes, some weight gain due to water retention, headaches. These are most common during the first few months of the pill and most will go away after your body adjusts. Another  side effect is that your period will become shorter and lighter, and you may even skip one occasionally.

There are some serious, rare side effects that you should be aware of in case you need to contact your doctor. You can find them here:

If you start your period the day of your period, or the first Sunday after your period, you are protected immediately, although it is recommended that you use a back-up method for the first 7 days. If you start the pill at any other time, use a back-up method for the first 7 days.

I hope this helps. If you have further questions, let me know.
