QuestionHi Diane, I have a question about the side effects of taking Plan B. Recently I needed to take the plan B pill because of a condom break. I got my period about a week and a half after taking it like I was told that I should. I'm about two and a half weeks late for my next period. I have had sex since taking plan B but it was protected and I'm pretty positive that there were no malfunctions. For the past year or so my period has been slightly unreliable in it's timing, but to be almost three weeks late is kind of abnormal. Is this a side effect of the plan b or should I be concerned?
I appreciate any help you can give me,
Kat
AnswerHi Kat,
Thanks for your question. I have to tell you, that there is really no such thing as "protected" sex. Everytime you have sex you risk pregnancy or a sexually transmitted disease. So it is possible that you could be pregnant. Also, it is a possibility that you could have caused your cycle to be abnormal from the Plan B. I don't ever recommend Plan B. Also, like you mentioned, maybe your period is just off. If you want to get a free pregnancy test, you can find a local pregnancy resource center near you. http://www.optionline.org or call 1-800-395-HELP. Or try

Also at http://www.optionline.org/map.html you can find an article about Plan B or morning after pill.
Let me know what happens. You can email me at CHERYL51@aol.com to update me or just talk. Hope to hear from you soon.
Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
