How do nail primers work?

Dear Georgina,

Since artificial nails and natural nails are both "positive" (like with a magnet)it is needed to bind them together the best way possible. Primer is an acid based liquid which is used to prepare the nail plate for artificial extension either gel or acrylic. It roughens the surface of the plate so a better adhesion will be possible. Special care should be taken when applying primer as it should never touch the skin around the nail plate (it will damage and burn the skin) The brush attached to the cap of the primer bottle should be dried on a piece of tissue and one layer is applied to the nail plate. Repeat this procedure once more and never touch the plate after this because of the fat of your skin will influence the application afterwards.
