Gel Nail Allergy: Itchiness and Skin Reactions - Causes & Relief

Question
I have worn gel nails for 15 years...I have been going to the same girl and about 6 months ago about 12 hours after I have a fill all the skin from my first knuckle back to the nail becomes incredibly itchy to the point of waking me from a dead sleep!  I have tried taking benedryl before and when the itch appears, but it does not help..this usually lasts about 1 - 2 days...I have also noticed that if I touch my skin (say around my face), that it too becomes itchy....any thoughts?  I am wondering why after all these years...we have tried not using the cuticle oil, but I still think there must be something I have developed this allerfy to and I really want to know what it is

Answer
Hi Susan,

It is very possible to develop an allergy at any time.
First I would advise you to get them off. The allergy will not go away over time.
Review all her products with her;has she changed files, polish dry spray, cleaner for the dispersion film on the gel, soap, anything could have caused this.
find out what the product is then try another product. When you start putting different products on, only apply the product to one nail to see if there is any reaction, wear the product for at least 24 hours before determining that you will not have a reaction.
There are gel products on the market that have a specific product in there line for people who are more sensitive.
