QuestionWhen you attemple to soak your acrylic nails off, how much acetone must be placed into the bowl? Do you place the acetone in water? Must the water be hot, cold or lukewarm? Lastly, do you know the average cost of a bottle of acetone from the beauty supply store or pharmacy?
Thank you.
AnswerLisa,
To soak your nails off, you need to be sure your acetone is 100% acetone. If you have those OTC bottles that say "with acetone," then you will soak for forever to try to get the nails off!
You only need a small amount to cover your nails. Rub some cream or cuticle oil on the areas surrounding the nails to help prevent dryness.
You can place the small bowl of acetone in a bowl of warm water, as this helps to accelerate the product to loosen.
Your best bet is to go to Sally's to buy acetone. I cannot tell you prices as they are different depending on where you get it.
Just a tip here: if you have MMA on your nails, you will soak for many hours until you just tear off the product. MMA does not fully dissolve in acetone. (to find out if you have MMA on your nail, go to http://salon29.net and look for the "What is on YOUR Nail?" link)
Good luck with your removal!
