QuestionHi,
I had bio sculpture gel nail extensions put onto my nails a week ago. On Friday night one broke without any brute force, followed by a split in the side of one of my thumbs on Saturday - this time I didn't even notice how I did it, it just 'appeared'! Again, on Sunday, I got another split in the other thumb. I went into the salon that did them yesterday as they were also very discoloured, and the technician fixed the breakages (did not say why they broke so easily), and said the discolouration was due to dye off my clothes and cleaned them up with acetone free remover. She assured my that the nails she fixed wouldn't break again as she'd used silk, which she said was stronger. However, last night, literally minutes after arriving back from the salon, the nail on my little finger lifted when I opened the garage door, and today, whilst at work, my thumb split again when I caught it slightly on a zip. I have had gel nail extensions in the past and had absolutely no problems whatsoever - I've even had the same Bio Sculpture system. I'm quite annoyed that I have paid in good faith to have lovely nails, only for them to look shabby! Could this problem be due to a problem with my own nails, or could the fault lie with the technician?
Thank you in advance, and sorry for the long question!!
Helen.
AnswerHelen,
I am not familiar with Bio Sculpture, but can you be POSITIVE it was BioSculpture? I would need a bit more information as to what EXACTLY was done to your nails. Did you have a liquid and powder put on first and then a gel product? Or was it just gel? Did you have tips put on first and then the gel? Or did they sculpt them out for you?
Now let me tell you that the dye in your clothes will NOT discolor our nails. Unless you are dying clothes or your purchases have too much dye, this will NEVER happen!!! That is absurd! Is the dye coloring your skin, too? Probably not. When techs start pushing the blame on something else, it is usually them at fault.
Also, NEVER use acetone free removers. ALWAYS use 100% acetone. Contrary to what anyone tells you, this will NOT cause lifting or product breakdown. Acetone evaporates so fast that unless you soak in it, it will not harm your new nails.
Since I cannot see the nails and can only go by what you are telling me, it is a strong possibility that either the product is old; the UV lights need to be changed; she did not prep the nails/tips correctly or the tech has not cured your product long enough.
Gels that are manufactured today as compared to many years ago are very strong. There really is no need for silk unless your natural nail has a tear.
Please get back to me to let me know what was done and I can possibly help you a bit more.
Buenos dias,
Lynnette
