Acrylic Nails Peeling? Causes & Solutions - Expert Advice

Question
Hi there, my friend has done my nails with acrylic and a day after that it started chipping off one by one. I am really frustrated with this, since none of her other clients have had any problem like this. Is there something wrong with my nails? I was very excited to hear that it will stay on my nails for a few weeks, because painted nails also never holds longer than two days. Please help?

Answer
Hi,
I understand that your friend has been doing your nails and the last time they started popping off.
Nail retention can be compromised by many things the number one thing is improper prep of the nail surface. The surface must be completely clean of oils and any debre that could keep the product from adhering tightly. Proper prep is "very important". Product breakdown can also come if when applied it touches the skin any where or the nail surface is completely covered with no gaps, also if the product ratio is off when mixing liquid and powder this will cause breakdown. Sometimes certain oral medications can interfere with adhesion( I would say this is not the case since you only mentioned this happening this last time). I do not know if your friend is a licensed nail professional, if she is not I would "strongly recommend" that you seek one out and have your nails done properly to prevent further issues or damage to your nails.
If your friend is a nail professional I would "highly recommend" she make sure she is following the exact process the product manufacture recommends for application and seek out education to help her if these issues continue.
You are also dealing with the friendship issue which is very hard to speak to someone in fear of hurting them. You need to look out for your nail health and if you choose to continue wearing acrylics find the best possible person to do them.
Good luck with this issue, there is no exact answer for your question since I can not see them, but I hope this helps.
