Acne & Dry Skin: Understanding & Treating Sensitivity

Question
hi, I'm 16 yrs old and have acne. I've been using proactiv. over the past week I've been having some tightness, and dryness after washing my face. i use all 3 steps of the proactiv combination therapy, and i also use a sulfur mask for spot treatment during sleep, but have stopped using the spot treatment due to the dryness of my face. i also have dark dry spots on my face that look like dead skin cells, i often peel them off. i am really concerned about my dry skin and the dark spots. how can i prevent my skin from being too dry?
please help me!

Answer
Hello Luis!  :)

This is a concern many people have with ProActiv but I will support this product 100% because it works. What you have to do now is concentrate on your diet and the amount of water you are consuming.

As you may know, a proper diet is KEY to relieving what is happening to your skin. I treat skin issues from the inside out.

- Proper healthy diet consists of eating plenty of colored vegetables, fruits, salmon as this has DMAE for healthy glowing skin. Stay away from starches such as potatoes, breads and rice. You may switch to whole grain breads, and brown rice but limit these to once a week.
Next, avoid salt and sugars. These are enemies to your skin's health.
Take a multivitamin daily and of course drink 8-10 glasses of water daily. Water intake has saved my skin and now I never break out! :)

The dark dry spots on your face will diminish as you maintain the above recommended proper diet.

I will be curious how your skin is in the next couple weeks. Of course like anything - it takes time to get to healthy so if you just started using the Proactiv give it some time for your skin to adjust to it. If it is truly still drying your skin, you can use a hydrating non clogging moisturizer to relieve the dryness.

Hope this helps you and look forward to your reply

Take good care
Elaine :)
