Sebaceous Hyperplasia & Aging Skin: Makeup & Skincare Solutions
QuestionI am 45. I have been diagnosed with sebacia hyperplasia. I have bad breakouts and sars on my neck and face from them. The oil on my skin leaves it always slick and shiny. Makeup slides off my face. I want to look good as I am a paralegal and I am always in the public eye. I am having a hard time know how to care for my skin and which make up to use as I also have aging skin concerns as well. HELP! Thank you.
Answer Hi Kimberlee,
First I want to apologize for how long it took me to respond, I went out of town and forgot to tell allexperts. If you are as oily as you're telling me, you need to be on a wash and toner for aceneic skin, look for products that have salicylic acid, they will help with oil. Make-up should be labeled as non-comedogenic, so it won't clog your pores and should be oil-free. Some lines out there have "perfecting powders" that contain rice starch which helps to absorb excess oil.
Lucky for you oily skin ages well, but wearing a sunblock every day will help keep your skin looking young, and vitamin c serums in the morning give your skin antioxidants to fend off damage.
If your skin remains excessively uncontrollably oily I recommend finding a dermatologist that can help you manage it.
Hope this helps
