QuestionHello,
I have had bumps under each armpit for a couple years now. They are usually black in color and change from what looks like slits to enlarged bumps. The doctors have said they are benign, but I would like to know how to get rid of them for beauty purposes, not for my health. I am wondering if they might be ingrown hairs? Thank you for your time.
AnswerHello Ally,
Bumps that change colors and size and shape have to be very closely and regularly checked by a dermatologist, as they can turn into a skin cancer out of the blue. I cannot tell you if these bumps are ingrown hairs, as it requires a thorough examination by a specialist to diagnose these.
To directly answer your question, I would recommend you to first see a dermatologist and ask him/her what are your options to get rid of them.
As far as I know, the only way to get rid of bumps is surgery. Once you have seen the specialist, and learned more about what these bumps are, you may want to use Green Clay poultices on them everyday for a couple of months and see what happens. Green Clay would help in case of ingrown hairs, non-cancerous moles and warts, so it would be an alternative to surgery, but it would of course take longer.
I hope you find this answer helpful.
Have a beautiful day,
Take good care
