Fixing Red Tones After Hair Coloring: A Professional Guide

Question
I used a 7M socolor w 20 vol on a level 5. She is my friend. Said she liked it, but now it is too "red" for her. It did pull a little redder than what I typically see using an M. She wants the red out, but doesn't wat it any darker. I did a test strand w a 8A color sun, and didn't really budge. What else can I use besides lightening her?

Answer
Jessica,
Sorry for the delayed response. You had basically the right idea, but you won't cover red using a lighter level. I would suggest a level 7 natural or ash. With 7 being the same level you should get the same coverage without going darker and the natural should tone it down well while still keeping some red. The ash should neutralize more. I would suggest 20 volume.
Best of luck to you.
