Red Lips: Causes, Symptoms & When to See a Doctor

Hello there.
I woke up the other morning and my lips were unusually red.  I do not wear any lipstick, and I did not do anything out of the ordinary the night before.
They were slightly swollen as well, and really red.
My husband noticed as well.
My lips are normally a light pink in colour.

Answer
The lips would be more red because of increased blood supply.  Usually that is the result of either injury or an allergic reaction.  (Rarely infection)  If your lips haven't been injured (even sun damage) then I would look towards some type of allergic reaction, possibly to a new medication, a food, or some type of makeup.
