Understanding a Red Spot on the Penis: Causes & What to Do
QuestionI have had a red spot on the head of my penis for several months now. Over the last several weeks it has sloooowly gotten larger (to about 1/3 the size of the head of my erect penis. It showed up once as a small, pea sized flat dry skin spot that was slightly red, like a raw skin patch. It does not itch at all. It does not hurt at all. It seems to be an irritated, almost blood blister. There is no real mass to it at all. The only thing it does on occasion is get dry skin on it, which flakes off easily. I've tried using Bacitracin on it, or creams. I had seen a doctor, who didn't think anything of it and recommended Lotrimin AF (if anything) which I've tried to no avail. Someone suggested is was a Fordyce spot, but I'm not sure. I admit to masturbating at least once a day...could this be irritation? If so, what can I do? What else could this be?
AnswerHi Neal,
This is probably not a Fordyce Spot based on your description. I also doubt masturbation trauma is the cause unless your technique irritates this lone area. I would search out a dermatologist for an opinion. Derm questions are the hardest to answer via the internet because most of these things are a diagnosis of observation.
